Treatment Modalities

During your session, two or more treatment modalities may be used together depending on your condition and needs.

Acupuncture

Very thin, sterile acupuncture needles are inserted into specific points on the body to help promote healing. Certain acupuncture points can help regulate hormones, release endorphins, and generally promote circulation in order to enhance overall function and well-being. Most people are surprised how relaxing acupuncture can be during/after a session!

Oftentimes, the addition of electric stimulation to the acupuncture needles during treatment can be very helpful and effective for pain.

Cupping

Cupping is fantastic for promoting circulation and relieving pain. The cups can be left stationary during treatment, or moved around to help loosen tense muscles. Often, a cupping treatment may leave some redness on the skin that is temporary and is completely painless.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha therapy is very helpful for relieving tension and discomfort. It is a technique that uses a smooth tool (such as one of those Asian style soup spoons) to gently scrape over the area of discomfort – occasionally leaving some temporary, painless redness in the treated area.

Moxibustion

Moxibustion is a heat therapy that uses mugwort – an herb that is very warming for the body. Moxa (the processed mugwort) comes in several different forms, and the heat provided can be very helpful in speeding up the body’s healing.
